Green Heart NE is a social enterprise focused on delivering environmental and social impact in Gateshead.
Green Heart NE CIC is a sister organisation to Green Heart Collective and both were founded and directed by Andy and Helen Redfern.
Green Heart Collective is a trading social enterprise that seeks to deliver impact through selling second hand goods and raising awareness of the challenge that waste poses for us all.
To enable new ideas and approaches to be created and tested, it was decided to create Green Heart NE CIC as a Community Interest Company to allow focused solutions to the problems of waste and social exclusion to be created.
Green Heart is developing projects to look at:
- Innovative approaches to creating a more circular economy in Gateshead
- Solutions to food waste and the links to food poverty
- Creating partnerships with social enterprises, charities, community organisations and statutory bodies/funders to develop multi-partner, larger projects
- Engaging with grassroots organisations to develop innovative solutions to problems that can be addressed by the raw materials of the circular economy
